Tour Overview

Discover the stunning landscapes of northern Tanzania with Take Five Africa Adventures on a 6-day Mount Meru trekking adventure, combining the thrill of mountain trekking with breathtaking scenery, rich biodiversity, and cultural immersion. Mount Meru, standing at 4,562 meters, is the fifth highest peak in Africa and serves as a magnificent warm-up for climbers planning to attempt Mount Kilimanjaro. This trek, featuring four days of guided hiking, takes you through diverse ecological zones, from lush rainforest, bamboo thickets, montane forests, and moorlands, culminating in alpine desert terrain near the summit.

The trek begins with arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and a short transfer to Arusha, where guests are welcomed by our experienced guides. A comprehensive briefing ensures that all climbers are well-prepared for the journey, covering gear, safety protocols, and acclimatization strategies. The Mount Meru trek is known for its scenic diversity and abundant wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, giraffes, Colobus monkeys, and over 400 bird species, making it ideal for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and adventure seekers.

Unlike taller peaks, Mount Meru offers a more accessible yet challenging climb that provides an authentic high-altitude trekking experience without extreme risks. Along the way, trekkers encounter dramatic volcanic craters, cascading waterfalls, and panoramic vistas of the surrounding savannah, including views of Mount Kilimanjaro to the east and the Ngorongoro Highlands to the west. Accommodation during the trek is in comfortable campsites with full support from our guides and porters, offering cozy evenings under the stars.

This itinerary also emphasizes cultural engagement, with opportunities to interact with the Chagga communities who live on the lower slopes, learning about their traditional farming techniques, cuisine, and folklore. Each day balances physical challenge with scenic exploration, wildlife observation, and photography opportunities, creating a holistic trekking experience that combines adventure, education, and cultural enrichment. With the guidance of Take Five Africa Adventures, trekkers enjoy a professionally supported, safe, and unforgettable journey to the summit of Mount Meru.
